For New Year’s we always take the long weekend and stay at my parents NH house, it's been tradition for years. We snowmobile, eat, play board games, and sled the backyard hill late at night before the ball drops. This year we had a full house with my parents, our best friends Jake & Megan, Tyler's cousin & fiance with their kids & Tyler's brother and wife, then our neighbors who insisted we'd take them sledding as they wanted to be part of this tradition we talk so highly about.
For the record, I swore I'd know the day Tyler would ask me to marry him because I pick up on everything- like why Tyler's cousin needed to buy such expensive champagne for New Years? And why there was a scramble to get a new one? Why the kids wanted to know how to pronounce my last name after all these years? Or the bag on top of the cabinets that I asked about with cigars in it? But, we did discuss the entire car ride up, how Tyler would be buying a new motorcycle and reassured me we're not looking to get married soon. And to top it off, my nails were not done and that meant we were not getting engaged, obviously. The best part was when I innocently told Tyler my fingers were so swollen that weekend, which threw him for a loop, oops! After sledding it was time to head in, it was wayy to cold! My mom (who had no clue) headed back to house and shortly behind her I was walking back, when everyone else rallied us back to get a picture together. As pictures happened of couples, Jake & Megan went and I yelled "get down on one knee" because we're currently on the countdown for their wedding - Tyler again thrown for the loop (sorry babe)! And that's when it was our turn to take a photo together. With tons of cameras - we smiled, I turned around towards him, he got down on one knee, my gloves came flying off & I said "uhhh, YEAH!!"
And, the rest was (new expensive) champagne, (badly hidden) cigars & celebrations!!
